Mountain View’s Burton Law had to battle through a labrum tear last season. The 5-foot-11, 220-pound linebacker has fought through injuries this season. A injured foot will force him to have surgery after the season. Despite the setbacks, Law has been a bright spot on Mountain View’s defense this season.
The senior posted eight tackles and a fumble recovery in last week’s game.
“He’s a tough kid, a warrior,” Mountain View head coach Doug Giacone said.
Law and the rest of Mountain View’s defense will try to stop Ryan Moore and the Meadowcreek offense on Friday night. Moore has rushed for more than 100 yards in the last two games.
“It goes back to the same thing we’ve done all year. Whether you’re playing Norcross or Meadowcreek, it goes back to you trying to get better every week,” Giacone said.
Mountain View and Meadowcreek are out of the playoff hunt, but both teams still have plenty to play for this year. Meadowcreek is still searching for its first win, while Mountain View can win the most games in a full varsity season.
“Our focus is on beating Meadowcreek and being 1-0,” Giacone said. “Then we’ll get ready for North Gwinnett and from there Duluth. Thinking past this week would be a major mistake.”
Last meeting: Mountain View won 48-7 last year
