BUFORD -- The author of "And Then Came the Angels" has scheduled a book signing for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble at Mall of Georgia.
Beth Gayle wrote the book about her son, Gip, who was injured in a hunting accident. The story is of faith and friendship and how Gip and the Gayle family used that support to get through a very trying time.
In addition, the author will sign books from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at Acworth Bookstore, 4857 N. Main St., Acworth.

Georgia SPCA hosts Howl-O-Ween Fest
SUWANEE -- The Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has scheduled a Howl-O-Ween Festival for Sunday with all proceeds going to help homeless animals across the state.
A pet parade begins at 2:30 p.m., and there will be two costume contest: one for just pets, and one for owners and pets who dress up together.
Each contest will have three prizes: best overall, scariest and most original.
In addition, there will be a DJ, Dalmatian Bounce House, inflatable obstacle course and pumpkin painting contest.
The festival will take place at 1175 Buford Highway, Suwanee.
GGC hosting Choi Kwang Do event
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Georgia Gwinnett College will host a Choi Kwang Do martial arts event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the fitness center.
The seminar is dedicated to all students, faculty, staff and administrators on campus who support a diverse health and fitness program.
Choi Kwang Do was started by a veteran martial arts master who studied Korean Karate and Taekwon-Do.
Badminton club and physical education instructor Jeannie Elkovich and Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson will be in attendance at the event to help promote the health benefits of the martial arts discipline.
