Norcross senior Shayla Cooper, ranked as the No. 35 overall prospect nationally in the Class of 2013 by ESPN, has made a commitment to the Georgetown women's basketball program. She is the daughter of Stanolla Cooper.
Cooper, a 6-foot-1 forward, chose the Hoyas over Miami and Texas A&M. She averaged 13.6 points and 5 rebounds as a junior for the Blue Devils' Final Four team, and also was a key contributor as a sophomore for a Class AAAAA state championship team. She made 58 percent of her field goals last season, earning all-county and all-region honors.
She also maintains a 3.7 GPA.
