SNELLVILLE -- Eastside Medical Center has announced the opening of a new sleep center on its main Snellville campus.
The new center -- which will help diagnose problems, includkng snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia and restless leg syndrome -- boasts four private bedrooms and a "home-like atmosphere," hospital officials said. It will be able to serve the needs of individuals ages 13 and up, the elderly and medically fragile, they said.
"It combines the latest in sleep diagnostic technology with maximum comfort," Eastside spokeswoman Pattie Page said.
A sleep study is an overnight procedure that allows extensive monitoring while patients sleep, and helps sleep specialists find any abnormalities in sleep patterns, muscle activity or breathing. The location on the first floor of Eastside's main campus will allow for 24-hour emergency care, if needed.
Furnishings also include oversized chairs, reclines and Tempurpedic mattresses, Page said.
