LSU's Kevin Minter, a Peachtree Ridge grad, and Central Gwinnett's Trey Johnson were named semifinalists for the 28th Annual Butkus Award on Monday.
Minter was one of 12 college nominees for the award, which will be announced Dec. 4. Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones was also selected.
Johnson, an Auburn commitment, was the only player from Georgia selected to the 12 semifinalists.
The Butkus Award honors outstanding linebackers at the pro, college and high school level.
