Local man appointed to Georgia World Congress board

ATLANTA -- The Governor recently appointed a Gwinnett County businessman to the board which develops and operates the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park.

The president and CEO of Russell Landscape, William E. "Bill" Russell is also past chairman of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, serves on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is past president of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia.

In addition, he serves on the Georgia Gwinnett College board of trustees, Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation Board, Gwinnett Children's Shelter board of trustees and the board of directors of the Council for Quality Growth.

Russell earned a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University, a master's degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from Ohio State University.

Russell said he is "very honored" to serve on the Georgia World Congress Center's Board of Governors, which provides oversight for one of the largest convention destinations in the nation.
