Special Photo Tannery Row presents its new exhibit "Wink" with whimsical pieces like this one by Joyce Reese.

BUFORD -- Art is created for many reasons: for passion, to inspire and to provoke emotion, usually love, pain, angst or triumph.

Beginning this weekend, Tannery Row Artist Colony displays art to encourage laughter, smiles and belly chuckles at its latest exhibit "Wink."

"I am so excited about all the art coming in. It's just fun," Linda Lindeborg said, resident Tannery Row artist. "Why this show? It is a relaxed show with great art, but not intimidating or 'high brow' art -- just a time to enjoy."

Artists from the Colony and other locals painted, sculpted and molded pieces by interpreting the word, "wink."

Today kicks off the exhibit with an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. where people can vote for their favorite pieces.

"This is a great interactive show," Judy Isaak said, another artist at the Colony. "There will be voting for your favorite artist, a People's Choice award, where you can pay a dollar per vote and the artist with the most votes will win."

The show was curated and judged by Jon Goldstein, the program manager of the ART Station in Stone Mountain. The exhibit is free. Tannery Row is located at 554 W. Main St. in Buford.
