If it’s possible, the team that lost a week ago enters this week feeling a bit better about their performance than the winner.
Shiloh, a six-point loser to Brookwood, showed marked signs of improvement and never rolled over against a team the Generals are accustomed to losing to.
“I was proud of the effort the entire night,” Shiloh head coach Troy Hobbs said. “It was rewarding. That is what we’ve been preaching, not just me the entire staff, effort is the key. If they are giving effort, then good things can happen. Us giving good effort the entire game, I am not saying we could have beaten Brookwood, but it gave us the opportunity to be in the game.”
The surprise performances came from running backs Trevon Jones and Grant Swinton who helped the Generals’ attack.
“They took a pounding and they just kept on taking it,” Hobbs said.
For Parkview, the win over Dacula showed some flaws in its defense and an intensity lull coming off the bye week. But this week, the Panthers worked on limiting penalties and tweaked its defense.
“Sometimes during a week off you don’t get the benefit that you want,” head coach Cecil Flowe said.
