Newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward play the 12-year-old, star-crossed puppy-love leads in this latest from writer/director Wes Anderson. A period-piece/coming-of-age comedic drama that is far deeper and sneaky than that sub-genre tag implies is photographed to look like a sepia-toned home movie from the '60s and brings with it all of the quirked-out trademark Anderson flourishes. Surmising no adult will understand their romantic plight, the pre-teen runaways also aren't quite cognizant enough to realize that doing so on an island will present certain limitations.
