Buford's Haley first in XTerra Fall Fitness Trail Run

Buford resident Matt Haley won his first XTerra Trail Run event last weekend, taking first overall in the XTerra Fall Fitness Trail Run at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.

Haley ran the 5K course in 18 minutes, 48 seconds. Tara Gormley of Marietta was the overall women's winner with a time of 22:28.

Eleven other Gwinnett area runners won age-group titles at the event. Those winners were: Lilburn's Ron Keyes (male, 70-and-over, 35:54), Snellville's Linda Romero (female, 60-64, 36:32), Suwanee's Don Peterson (male, 55-59, 22:03), Lawrenceville's Nozomi Wade (female, 55-59, 30:46), Suwanee's Todd Wilson (male, 45-49, 24:40), Sugar Hill's Sheila Haynes (female, 40-44, 29:18), Hoschton's Greville Hardman (male, 30-34, 24:41), Lawrenceville's Samantha Finch (female, 20-24, 27:19), Hoschton's Anna Rawl (female, 15-19, 29:47), Lawrenceville's Abby Carmack (female, 14-and-under, 27:58) and Tucker's Carlos Resendiz (male, masters, 21:28).
