Gwinnett Daily Post
The Gwinnett County health board is one of several metro area organizations that recently received a grant from the Healthcare Georgia Foundation.
The foundation announced recently just over $1.4 million in grants awarded primarily to "programs addressing low-income, high disparity populations of women at highest risk for adverse birth outcomes." The group awarded the Gwinnett County Board of Health $112,500, officials said.
The local health board will use the grant money to "hire an accreditation coordinator to coordinate and oversee the accreditation process and to provide ongoing accreditation support for the Georgia Public Health District Accreditation Pilot Program."
The Georgia Department of Public Health, Emory University and University of Georgia Research Foundation were also among those receiving grants.
