SUWANEE -- The latest gift and accessories store opened this week in Suwanee, just in time for the busy holiday retail shopping season.
A Hallmark store, located next to Publix and the UPS store at the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and McGinnis Ferry Road, opened on Wednesday in the space previously occupied by the consignment store called Once Again Kids.
Joe Husted, the store manager who recently transferred from a Marietta Hallmark store, said customer response was great a few hours into the business day on Wednesday.
"We've had a lot of people asking and being thankful that we're here," Husted said. "The other people in the development are very happy that we're here."
The Hallmark store is the third gift and accessories store in Suwanee after La Ti Da, which opened in 2008, and Parsons Gift Shop, which moved from Duluth in August. La Ti Da is located at 425 Buford Highway, southeast of the Suwanee Police Department, while Parsons is located at 1500 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in the Suwanee Jubilee Shopping Center.
Husted said the corporately owned Hallmark store didn't necessarily plan to open at the beginning of the busiest time of year; it was simply when all the factors involved in opening a store came together. Husted added that it's nice to be next to an anchor store like Publix.
Husted said his goal for the new Hallmark store is to make every customer feel special.
"I want them to be able to come in and browse and enjoy themselves and enjoy all of our products and leave with something they need and want," he said. "To get a Hallmark experience out of everything. It's not just about the special occasions, it's about the everyday."
