Lawrenceville pet soup kitchen to host appreciation day

LAWRENCEVILLE -- While there are people who are looking for food in these tough times, their pets are also searching for the next meal. This weekend, you can help stock up food for these hungry animals.

On Saturday, Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen hosts its Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to raise money -- and meals -- for the nonprofit. Owners are encouraged to bring their leashed pets to the event.

During the day, attendees can listen to live entertainment provided by Mixed Genes and the Rockaholics, bid in the silent auction from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or look for a new furry family member at the pet adoption.

There will also be kids' activities, a petting zoo, pony rides, pet costume contest and parade, and pet related classes and demonstrations.

Admission is free, but organizers are asking for people to donate cat or dog food. All proceeds from the event benefit Daffy's and its mission to "keep families and their pets together," providing food for the animals in need.

The Appreciation Day will be held at Lawrenceville Square Shopping Center located at 134 S. Clayton St. Suite 104 in Lawrenceville.
