ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Two University of Georgia students told police they were attacked during an attempted robbery on College Avenue.
The students told police they were walking toward their home early Thursday morning when they encountered three men, and one yelled out to them. They kept walking, but the man who yelled ran up and struck one of the students in the head with a board.
Police say that student ran until his attacker stopped chasing him. But when he looked back, he saw his friend being attacked by the other two men, police said. While beating him, police said the men tore his clothing while trying to steal a wallet and cellphone.
One of the students was treated at a hospital for a cut over his eye.
