ALBANY (AP) — Police are investigating an apparent robbery that targeted a Dougherty County man known for supporting the legalization of marijuana.
Buster Jones said that he was beaten and robbed by two masked men Wednesday night who stole a about an ounce of marijuana from him.
Jones said it happened when he went outside his home to investigate some noises. The 70-year-old said one assailant grabbed his shotgun and beat him while a second man ransacked his home.
Jones is a member of the National Organization to Reform Marijuana Laws. He said he doesn't believe the robbery would have happened if marijuana was legal.
Dougherty County police said they are investigating the robbery. They have not charged Jones with any drug crimes.
