One student charged in brawl

SUWANEE -- A high school student faces charges after a brawl broke out last week following a football game between Peachtree Ridge and Collins Hill high schools.

Darrion Spence, a 17-year-old student at Peachtree Ridge High School, is being charged with affray for actively participating in the fight, according to GCPS spokesman Jorge Quintana.

Quintana said more students may still be charged. "This was just one student who was identified as participating, but the police are still talking to others about what happened," he said.

Spence will also face disciplinary action with either the school or school system, Quintana said.

Police said a brawl between about 150 students broke out Oct. 5. While there were already 14 police officers stationed at the event as a precautionary measure, more were called in to restore the peace.

As officers arrived at the chaotic scene near a student parking lot, they reportedly found about 150 students either actively fighting or watching.

One officer reported being punched in the back of the head but was not seriously injured; an 18-year-old male was transported to an area hospital with a knee injury, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.

School officials said standard precautions for any big rivalry game -- extra police, additional administrators, detailed plans for ushering teams on and off the field -- were in place long before the Collins Hill Eagles rolled over the Lions 41-10. Smith said five officers worked the game as a side job.

This is to be expected - They are the product of parents and home environments which promote such behavior. Tea and Beer usually ends up with Tears.

He hates anything remotely Republican. Probably his lame attempt to blame this on the tea party. Suprised he didn't blame Bush for this hood behavior.
