Sophomore midfielder Victor de Lima scored a season-high three goals as the Georgia Gwinnett men's soccer team raced past The Crown College of the Bible on Friday, 9-0, on the Grizzly Soccer Field in Lawrenceville.
The Grizzlies (8-2-1) tallied their quickest scores of the year by notching two goals in the opening minute of the game and didn't look back.
The GGC defense was similarly impressive, holding the Royal Crusaders without a shot on offense in posting its eighth shutout of the year.
Alejandro Duque added two scores while Tom Butler, Berkmar grad Martin Lugo, Ike Marcussi and Ibrahima Sissoko each got on the board for GGC.
Butler fed Sissoko for the opening score just 41 seconds into the game, and only 15 seconds after that, Duque provided the second goal by weaving through traffic.
The GGC offense built an 8-0 lead by halftime on 21 shots.
A final goal from de Lima in the 52nd minute capped the scoring as GGC improved to 4-1-1 at home on the year.
The Grizzlies turn around to face Covenant College (7-6-1) tonight at 7 p.m. in Lookout Mountain.
