BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — A police officer on Georgia's coast is asking a judge to issue a warrant against a preacher over comments posted about her on Facebook.
Brunswick police Officer Barbara Hartman asked Glynn County Magistrate Wallace Harrell on Thursday to issue the warrant charging the Rev. Ken Adkins with making false statements or writings.
The Florida Times-Union reports that the officer is also asking the magistrate to issue a "good behavior" warrant to compel Adkins to stop saying bad things about her on Facebook.
Hartman told Harrell the preacher "has caused me severe grief" in questioning her integrity as an officer and a business owner.
Harrell said there are constitutional rights to free speech involved in the case, and that he intended to study that issue before ruling on the request.
