ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Department of Labor is teaming up with business and community leaders in two northwest Georgia counties to try to help job seekers get matched up with employers looking to fill vacant positions.
The three-day Job Readiness Kick Off Talent Attraction is set to be held Oct. 22 to 24 at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton. It will feature workshops, networking opportunities and resume assistance.
The event is a joint effort of the state labor department and agencies in Murray and Whitfield counties.
The greater Dalton area is the first site to receive assistance from the department's newly created Special Workforce Assistance Team. It was selected because its unemployment rate is hovering around 12 percent, among the highest in the state.
