North Gwinnett quarterback Michael Haynes won online voting this week as the Daily Post's Fans Choice Player of the Week.
The senior quarterback got 43 percent of the vote to win a competition with Grayson's David McTier (37 percent), Collins Hill's Julian Williams (14 percent) and Buford's Dontravious Wilson (7 percent). Both Haynes and McTier had more than 1,000 votes.
Each week during the football season, the Daily Post will nominate four players for its Fans Choice Player of the Week. Online voting at www.gwinnettprepsports.com will begin Monday mornings and will end Thursdays at noon. The winner will be featured online and in the Friday print edition.
Haynes earned the honor after rushing for 145 yards, throwing for 91 yards and accounting three four touchdowns in a win over Duluth.
"Michael led us to a great start early in our game last week offensively and then capped it off with a huge TD run late in the game to seal the win," North head coach Bob Sphire said. "He has benefited greatly from his response to internal competition. This shows in his daily work to improve and it is carrying over to game night. His performance last Friday carried us to a huge region victory."
