ATLANTA -- Lilburn Middle School principal Dr. Gene Taylor has accepted the same position at North Atlanta High School. He starts Oct. 29.
In an Oct. 5 letter to parents of North Atlanta High School students, Superintendent Errol B. Davis said that interim principal Mark Mygrant and other administrators would be stepping down.
During its Oct. 1 board meeting, Atlanta Public Schools voted to hire Taylor to take over at the high school.
According to a spokesperson for Gwinnett County Public Schools, Taylor was named principal of Lilburn Middle School in May 2008, taking the place of Cecilia Garcia, who retired.
He was formerly principal at Alton C. Crews Middle School, assistant principal at North Gwinnett High School and a social studies department chair at North Gwinnett.
According to Morris' letter to parents, "Dr. Taylor's record is replete with both school and student success stories, and we are eager for him to take the helm at NAHS."
A replacement at Lilburn Middle has not yet been named.
