Mill Creek defensive lineman Kelsey Griffin made a commitment to the South Carolina football program on Wednesday morning.
The senior chose the Gamecocks after visiting Columbia for this past weekend's game with Georgia, won 35-7 by South Carolina. UGA was his other finalist, but he had offers from most of the nation's top programs dating back to his sophomore season.
He briefly committed to Georgia last month, but reopened his recruitment the same day.
"The coaching staff is great," Griffin said of South Carolina. "They take a lot of pride in their facilities and I like the way they coach. I like the way they play. I enjoyed it up there at South Carolina from the first time I went up there."
Griffin, a 6-foot-3, 290-pounder, led Mill Creek in tackles the past two years from his interior line position. He's rated as a four-star recruit and a top-10 defensive tackle by the major recruiting services.
"Kelsey had offers from schools across the entire country before narrowing his choices to South Carolina and UGA this summer," Mill Creek head coach Shannon Jarvis said. "He is very excited about the opportunity to play for the University of South Carolina and be a part of their continued success."
Griffin visited South Carolina earlier, but last weekend's visit was his first for a regular-season game.
"It was indescribable," Griffin said. "It was one of the most exciting games I've been to. I had only been there for a spring game, so this was my first chance to see a real game."
The long recruiting process that began several years ago is now over for Griffin, who said his commitment is final.
"I'm done with the recruiting," he said.
