GAB: Yarbrough to speak at Civitan Club

DULUTH -- Dick Yarbrough, a columnist syndicated in more than 35 newspapers including the Gwinnett Daily Post, will be the guest speaker at 11:45 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Duluth Civitan Club.

Yarbrough is a Southern philosopher, political pundit and humorist.

Fall festival features food, activities

SNELLVILLE -- A fall festival and health fair is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Britt Elementary School. The event features games, activities and food.

In addition, the gathering will have a tractor, trunk-or-treat, games for children, a National Storyteller Showcase winner and Nancy Rice, director of school nutrition services for the Georgia Department of Education will be in attendance as well.

Britt Elementary is located at 2503 Skyland Drive, Snellville.

Shriners Funfest is Saturday

DACULA -- The Shriners Funfest is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1342 Auburn Road, Dacula, next to Del Rio Mexican Grill.

The event features, food, moon walks, hay ride, train rides, clowns, cotton candy and vendors for the whole family.

Vendor booth spaces are $5 each, and all proceeds go to help Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Georgia SPCA holds vaccination clinic

SUWANEE -- The Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is holding a low-cost vaccination clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1175 Buford Highway, Suite 109, Suwanee.

All proceeds from the clinic go to help Georgia SPCA assist homeless animals in the state.

Services include: canine and feline rabies shots, $10; canine and feline distemper/parvo shots, $10; canine bordetella shots, $10; canine heartworm test, $25; microchip, $25; combo test, $25; nail clipping, $10; deworming, $5; and flea treatment, $5.
