SNELLVILLE -- A local garden center with deep roots in the community will host a festival Saturday to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

The Family Tree Garden Center in Snellville -- run by Dana Pike, daughter of Pike Family Nursery founder Pete Pike -- will host the event full of activities from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Located at 1983 Main Street East, the nursery will host a live broadcast from radio station 104.7 The Fish, as well as live music, gardening and cooking demonstrations, pumpkin painting and a cookout.

Chick-fil-A will be present at 8 a.m., and raffles for prizes like zoo tickets, restaurant gift cards, furniture and plants will be held throughout the day. Master gardeners will be available for question-and-answer sessions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All proceeds from the raffles and a portion of the day's sales will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association.

"This disease touches so many lives," Dana Pike said. "I am proud to be able to offer this event to the community as a way to raise awareness and funds for this much-needed research."
