ATLANTA — Sunday is the final day of Georgia's tax holiday on energy and water efficient products and appliances.
The state is waiving its share of the sales tax through Sunday on Energy Star and Water Sense appliances that cost less than $1,500. Local governments have the option to do the same.
Those appliances can include air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, programmable thermostats and refrigerators.
It's the first such holiday since 2010. Georgia lawmakers had suspended the sales tax waiver as state revenues plummeted in the aftermath of the Great Recession.
But tax legislation passed this year brought back the sales tax holiday.
