Rhodes Jordan to host family night hike

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The staff at Rhodes Jordan Park understand that some people are night owls or star gazers and others enjoy the calm the sundown brings to a hectic life.

On Friday, bring your flashlight to the Community Center because the park hosts a "Cat Eye" hike through a 1-mile paved trail after dusk to celebrate these nocturnal people. In addition to taking in the darkness, attendees will learn about nighttime animal activity in the park, like raccoons, birds and opossums.

Before the hike, families are fed a cookout-style dinner in the pavilion. After the walk, the participants will be treated to hot, gooey s'mores to end the evening.

The event is 6:30 to 9 p.m., and is $7 per person while children 3 years old and younger are free to attend. Registration is required and participants must be signed up by Tuesday.
