MACON (AP) — Police in Bibb County are investigating after a 14-year-old student was found with a gun inside a middle school.
Authorities say a campus police officer found the girl with the weapon in Broomfield Middle School Thursday morning.
The Telegraph reports that it's not the first time a gun has been found at the school.
In November 2010, officials, acting on a tip from a parent, detained a 14-year-old eighth-grader for bringing an unloaded gun to the school.
In August 2009, a student was charged after bringing a gun to the school. It accidentally discharged into the floor of a classroom. No one was hurt in that incident.
