The Princess Bride 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray (PG)
Movie: 4 stars
Disc: 3 and 1/2 stars
Between 1984 and 1992, Rob Reiner directed seven films and all but one of them ("The Sure Thing") were critical and box-office successes. Regarded by devoted fans of the fairytale genre as the best of its kind ever made, "The Princess Bride" (adapted for the screen by William Goldman from his novel) includes all of the requisitely sweet "love story" flourishes but offsets them brilliantly with farce, biting satire and deft physical humor. Reiner keeps it all humming along nicely while pulling off an impressive balancing act.
