Duluth resident Matthew Rivers won the overall men's division title at the XTerra Harbins Park Trail Run, last weekend's kickoff event for the XTerra Georgia Trail Run Series.
Rivers completed the 10K trail in a course-record time of 36 minutes, 30 seconds, which shaved 16 seconds off his winning time in the event last year. The 23-year-old is a former cross country runner at Georgia Tech.
Tara Gormley won the women's overall title with a time of 42:17, more than a minute faster than her time a year ago. She has been the top-ranked female for four years in the XTerra Georgia Series.
Other locals who won divisions at the Dacula race were Buford's Alex Nachampassak (15- to 19-year-old male, 55:34), Sugar Hill's Lorez Roussey (40-44 female, 53:16) and Grayson's Celeste Stevens (45-49 female, 48:56).
