ArtWorks! Gwinnett to host inaugural call-a-thon

DULUTH -- ArtWorks! Gwinnett, the nonprofit organization established in 2010 to serve as the county-wide arts council in Gwinnett County, is hosting its first call-a-thon today to raise funds for its programs.

"ArtWorks! Gwinnett research showed that most Gwinnett citizen's believe that the arts are important to education, entertainment and family life," said Sally Corbett, executive director of ArtWorks!. "The community understands that the arts are an important aspect of quality of life and a part of the mix of assets that attract people and businesses to our community. The call-a-thon is an easy way for everyone who loves performing, visual and literary arts to contribute."

ArtWorks! board members and volunteers will gather with cell phones in hand from 2 to 4 p.m. at Duluth Festival Center and reach out to their own personal networks of friends and associates to encourage support of the arts. Proceeds from the calling campaign will go toward operations of ArtWorks! and to support other nonprofit arts organizations based in Gwinnett.
