DULUTH -- The city has scheduled its 30th annual Lighting of the Tree event for 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the historic downtown area.
The event begins with an open house at City Hall to view Christmas decorations and a doll collection. Hot cider will be served for free to the public.
At 5 p.m., there will be craft activities as well as games on the Town Green under the big white tent. The first 500 who show up will receive a Whole Foods Canvas bag filled with goodies.
At 5:30 p.m. Duluth High School Chorus will be caroling in the lobby of City Hall. Cookies and hot cider will be served free of charge.
At 6:30 p.m., a tree lighting ceremony will be held on the Amphitheater Stage, which will include a special performance by BB Harris Elementary and Duluth High School Chorus followed by the arrival of Santa on a sleigh pulled by live reindeer.
