PEACHTREE CORNERS - The city of Peachtree Corners is continuing to build its structure and Tuesday was no different during the city council meeting.
Although there weren't many action items, but there were various first reads for ordinances the council will vote on at the next meeting.
Among the items given a first read included the consideration to approve an ordinance adopting Chapter 90: Solid Waste. The ordinance provides for regulation of solid waste disposal services in the city.
"It's mainly establishing commercial waste management rules," Mayor Mike Mason said. "It has nothing to do with residential."
The current service is provided by the county and will be transferred to the city.
The mayor and city council also listened to the first read to approve an ordinance for the 2013 council meeting calendar. Other than January, council meetings will take place on the first Tuesday of the month, while work sessions will take place on the third Tuesday of the month.
"With the planning commission meeting on the second Tuesday of the month, that gives us three weeks to get everything together for approval of the council," City Planning Director Diana Wheeler said.
Other items discussed include:
The city will have its official city hall open house on Jan. 6 at 1:30 p.m. The building is located at 147 Technology Parkway N.W., Suite 200.
A first read of the ordinance to adopt the 2006 edition of the International Property Maintenance Code. While the code is present in Gwinnett County, it was amended to fit the needs of the city.
