PREP ROUNDUP: Lions open Charlotte tournament with win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Peachtree Ridge fell behind 10-0 but rallied to defeat North Rowan (N.C.) 77-72 in its opening round game at the Charlotte Hoop Challenge on Friday.

The Lions came back to lead by double digits for most of the game over its opponents from Spencer, North Carolina before holding on at the end. Aaron Augustin led Peachtree Ridge with 17 points and Jordan Capps added 16. Brandon Johnson pitched in 13 for the Lions (2-1), who will face Berry Academy in its next game.


Meadowcreek 69, North Murray 68

DALTON -- Meadowcreek reached the finals of the Southeast Thanksgiving Tournament with a 69-68 win over North Murray on Friday night. The Mustangs will play Campbell today at 8 p.m. for the championship.

Austin Robinson scored 20 to lead the Mustangs (2-1).


Woodland 66, Meadowcreek 54

DALTON -- Meadowcreek was never able to catch Woodland in the opening round of the Southeast Thanksgiving tournament, dropping a 66-54 decision Friday night.

The Mustangs (0-3) trailed throughout the game and managed to close the deficit to nine in the fourth quarter before it failed to convert its free throws. Meadowcreek was led by Angel Alexander, who scored 19 and added three rebounds, three blocks and four steals. Courtney Fields had 14 points and three steals and Ashley Okoku had 10 points. Woodland was led by Kennedy Robinson who scored 17.
