Snellville resident Memory Shettles, who trains locally at Georgia Gymnastics Academy, has signed a letter of intent with the Southern Utah University gymnastics program. She is the daughter of Dee and Kevin Shettles.
Shettles, who is coached by Judy Prestigiacomo and Amanda Cain, was an NIT qualifier in 2012 and posted top-10 finishes in all five events, including second place in all-around and third on floor exercise. She also was in the top 10 in five events at the region meet and was Georgia's Level 10 champion on floor exercise, helping her to a fourth-place all-around finish.
"Memory is a gymnast who just comes out and hits routines," Southern Utah coach Scott Bauman said. "She is super consistent and will bring a high level of difficulty to our floor team."
Shettles maintains a 3.7 GPA and is a senior at Shepherd's Ridge Academy in Stone Mountain.
