Parkview grad Brettschneider waived by Revolution

Parkview grad Blake Brettschneider was waived by the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer, the team announced Monday.

Brettschneider, a forward, was available for pickup in the league's Wavier Draft held later in the day along with 41 other players, including former Atlanta Silverback Tyler Ruthven. But the only player selected was Cole Grossman, who will head to Real Salt Lake.

In two years with DC United and the Revolution, Brettschneider scored three goals in 32 appearances. He played for four years at the University of South Carolina and scored 19 goals and recorded 17 assists for the Gamecocks, earning Conference USA co-MVP and offensive player of the year honors as a senior. Brettschneider scored 41 goals and had 31 assists in his career at Parkview, which included the 2005 state championship.
