Coach Billie Jatko's take: "We as a coaching staff are so proud of Powell and his achievements. He is a quiet, powerful influence on our team. We never hear him talk about the school records he has broken or the All-American title he earned in his sophomore year, but what we do hear are words of encouragement and support for his teammates. He is a rare humble athlete with the focus, I believe, to obtain any goal he sets. We are excited about the season."

Coach Jack Gayle's take: "Geoff is a leader, plain and simple. He has hungered for the chance to lead the swim team since his first day at Parkview. Because of this, Geoff is a two-time captain and one of the most respected swimmers on the team. There is not a single swimmer on the team who doubts Geoff's commitment, drive and passion. Geoff's presence alone means as much to Parkview swimming as his accomplishments in the pool."

Brookwood swimmer Nick LaMontagne

Coach Greg Puckett's take: "Nick is a naturally talented swimmer. For the first three seasons of his high school career, he played football in the fall, which usually kept him away from swim training until some time in December. By that time most of the team had been training for at least six or seven weeks, which is about half of the high school season. Usually by the important meets at the end of the season he had 'caught up' with his training. Last year he finished fourth at state in the 100 breaststroke and set the Brookwood record in that event. He has since decided to focus on swimming and not play football. I am excited to see what he can accomplish now that he will no longer be playing catch up with his training."

--Had county's fastest 100 fly last season and second-fastest 100 back

Coach Jack Gayle's take: "Rory does. That's the best way to describe him. He doesn't draw attention to himself, though he has a sharp sense of humor. He doesn't brag. He doesn't make a big production of racing. He just does. Because of this, we've come to know him as one of our most clutch swimmers, the kind of swimmer who will swim any event to the best of his ability. He's fiercely competitive, and I think it shows in his swimming."

Coach Greg Puckett's take: "Rachel has developed into one of the most versatile swimmers from Gwinnett County. She currently has top 10 Brookwood times in six events -- 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. She set the Brookwood 500 freestyle record last year and is close to setting the 200 freestyle record. Her versatility is a tremendous asset to me as a coach and ultimately to the team. In most events if the opponent has a strong swimmer I can put Rachel in that event and most of the time she will win it -- thus neutralizing the strength of the opponent. She definitely doesn't shy away from competition -- she seems to thrive on it and is driven by the opportunity to beat an opponent who 'may' be a little better than her."

In the past few years, Lexi has kicked it into high gear and strives to be the best swimmer she can be. Lexi has goals she would like to reach and understands that it takes talent and hard work to reach those goals. She is also very encouraging to her teammates. Some swimmers of Lexi's caliber don't have the time of day for beginning swimmers. Lexi takes the time to help less advanced swimmers with stroke and race technique.
