LAWRENCEVILLE -- Registration has begun for Gwinnett's Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.
The event, to benefit the Arthritis Foundation, will be held Dec. 1 at Lawrenceville's Tribble Mill Park. Volunteer organizers expect more than 500 participants and aim to raise $55,000.
The 2012 Gwinnett junior honoree for the event is 3-year-old Katherine, who was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis just after she turned two.
Festivities will include a five-kilometer timed run, a one-mile fun walk and a "Santa chase" for kids 8 and under. For more information or to register, visit jbrgwinnett.org or call 678-237-4458.
According to the Arthritis Foundation, 50 million adults and 300,000 children are affected by arthritis. An estimated 1.6 million adults and 9,200 children in Georgia have a doctor-diagnosed form of arthritis.
The Arthritis Foundation "is committed to raising awareness and reducing the impact of this serious, painful and unacceptable disease."
