LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County saluted military veterans during its annual Veterans Day ceremony Sunday at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.
Introduced by Congressman Rob Woodall, Command Sgt. Major James Nelson Jr. was the featured speaker, remembering the sacrifices of those who died in service and celebrating those who survived.
"Now, to live here is a privilege," Nelson said. "only by the blood of these men… America will remain the home of the free only because of the brave."
More than 100 attended the event, including Joe Bath of Lawrenceville.
"We don't want to forget that someone had to give up their own life for what we have today," said Bath.
