Fire engulfs Lawrenceville home

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett firefighters needed about 30 minutes to gain control of a house fire early Saturday morning that resulted in a total loss from fire damage, but no injuries.

The incident occurred in the 3400 block of Rolling Ridge Road in Lawrenceville at 1:30 a.m., a Gwinnett Fire spokesman said. Gwinnett Police confirmed heavy smoke and fire at the scene, and the 1,500-square-foot home was fully involved, said Gwinnett Fire Lt. Colin S. Rhoden.

Rhoden said the blaze was so intense, "it made an interior firefight impossible" because the home burned from the front to the back. A neighboring home also suffered moderate exterior damage to its siding and eaves from radiant heat, Rhoden said.

Two adults were displaced, and the cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation, Rhoden said.
