Grayson to honor college baseball signees

Grayson will host a ceremony Thursday to honor five college baseball signees -- Taylor Allum, Korey Anderson, Brandon Benson, Chris Erwin and Austin Meadows -- who helped the Rams to last season's Class AAAAA semifinals. The event will be at 2:30 p.m. in the high school theater.

Allum, a first baseman and right-handed pitcher, and Erwin, an outfielder and left-handed pitcher, are both headed to Kennesaw State. Allum hit .375 with 13 RBIs last season and was 5-0 with a 2.33 ERA as a pitcher. Erwin hit .368 with 14 RBIs and had a 1.42 ERA.

Meadows, a longtime Clemson commitment, hit .364 with two homers, nine RBIs and 12 stolen bases last season. Anderson, a first baseman and right-handed pitcher, is bound for Western Carolina and Benson, a shortstop, is going to Georgia College and State University. Anderson had a 2.33 ERA last season and Benson had 13 RBIs.
