After forfeiting their first two region wins (which they won 63-0 and 61-0) over a clerical error that was beyond their control, Buford’s players quickly returned their focus to football. And they’ve taken care of business in the weeks since, rolling to 49-14, 34-3, 51-0 and 49-6 victories in the their last four region games.

A victory Friday would be more impressive than those previous outings, though, with region champion North Hall in town. The Trojans, whose lone loss is to Jefferson, already have locked up the region championship and No. 1 seed for the playoffs, but only thanks to Buford’s two forfeits. If not for those, these two teams would have unbeaten records that would make this showdown a region championship game.

Buford is now in line for a No. 2 seed and a home playoff game, and a victory over North Hall would give the hosts even more momentum going into the state playoffs. It also would mean that Buford defeated every region opponent — on the field, at least — and confirm which team is the best in 7-AAA.

The Wolves were dominant again last Friday in a rout of East Hall, despite playing most of the night without leading rusher Dontravious Wilson, who was injured early. Thomas Wilson (three rushes, 98 yards, TD) and Zavior Hoxie (10 rushes for 57 yards, TD, 26-yard TD catch) picked up the slack in the running game a week ago.

The defense was impressive once again, led by Korie Rogers (two sacks) and Donte Gordon (sack, fumble recovery for TD).

Last meeting: Buford won 35-7 in 2009
