Petco and the Petco Foundation are hosting their third annual National Pet Food Drive through Sunday. The pet food drive, which began on Oct. 28, will serve to feed pets who belong to families in need.
Customers can buy new pet food or bring unopened pet food from home, then donate the food by leaving it in specially marked bins located in each Petco store throughout the nation.
In addition to customer donations, Hill's Science Diet has pledged to match every Science Diet cat and dog food donated, up to 80,000 pounds.
Since its creation in 2010, the National Pet Food Drive has provided over 1.5 million pounds of pet food and litter to families in need.
"We believe that pets enrich our lives and strengthen our communities, and those pets deserve loving homes, the best nutrition and a high quality of life," said Paul Jolly, executive director of the Petco Foundation. "No one should have to give up their beloved four-legged family member due to financial hardship."
