LAWRENCEVILLE -- Robert Mixon's body was first discovered by friends returning to his Duluth apartment, police said.
Mixon, 33, was found dead from a gunshot wound Friday afternoon after police were called to the Menlo Creek Apartments at 4370 Satellite Boulevard. Authorities have released few details regarding the crime, but the Daily Post obtained Wednesday a preliminary report for the incident.
According to the report, two men, one of which was listed as Mixon's roommate in unit 239, came to the residence and discovered the grisly scene.
They told authorities that "they arrived to the residence to find that the front door had been left unlocked and their friend ... with gunshot wounds and lying on the living room floor," the report said.
Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said earlier this week that detectives do not believe the homicide was random.
Smith declined Wednesday to release any information regarding possible suspects, and would not comment on a possible motive.
Mixon's obituary published in the Daily Post said he was born in 1979 in Spring, Texas. He is survived, the obituary said, by his mother in Orlando, Fla., and several relatives in Buford and Cumming.
Visitation was held Wednesday evening.
