ATLANTA -- Atlanta division Kroger stores collected more than $736,000 in October for breast cancer research and awareness.
From Sept. 30 to Oct. 27, customers in the grocery store chain's Atlanta division -- which covers Georgia, eastern Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina -- donated more than $450,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and more than $286,000 to Kroger's "Giving Hope a Hand" campaign.
The Susan G. Komen total surpassed to original fundraising goal of $400,000, officials said.
"With the help of our generous customers and associates, we are one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer," Kroger spokesman Glynn Jenkins said.
