ATLANTA — Georgia voters are heading to the polls to cast their ballots for president.

While Georgia has not received much attention this year, the outcome of Tuesday's election could show how much Southern Republicans rally around Mitt Romney or whether President Barack Obama matches the enthusiasm he garnered four years ago.

Obama did not win Georgia in 2008 but still took 47 percent of the vote, which was a better-than-normal showing for a Democrat during an election that saw heavy voter turnout. Two years later, the Democrat running for governor captured 43 percent of the vote as Republicans swept statewide elected offices.

Neither candidate has viewed Georgia as a swing state, although both have made stops in the state for fundraisers.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
