Gwinnett's lingerie football team officially has a name: the Atlanta Steam.

The Lingerie Football League -- which pits women clad in underwear, shoulder pads and helmets against each other in full contact, 7-on-7 football -- announced last month that it was branching out to the Atlanta market and bringing a team to play home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center next summer. It opened the team name discussion to the public and, league officials said this week, received almost 4,300 submissions.

The Atlanta Steam was "the name that was most often submitted."

Officials also said there seems to be a lot of prospective talent in the area.

"Additionally," a news release said, "LFL league officials have received greater interest from prospective players than in any other market in the history of the league."

The team will hold an open tryout on Nov. 10 in Fairburn. Those interested can visit lflus.com for more information.

Games will be hosted in Gwinnett on April 13 and May 18 of next year.
