It’s another work week for Peachtree Ridge.

The Lions face struggling Meadowcreek in the midst of a disappointing season and on the heels of a 36-3 loss to Norcross. But according to head coach Mark Fleetwood, the Lions players haven’t lost focus or energy as their season enters its final stretch.

“The attitude and the work ethic during the week is still good, and that’s exciting,” Fleetwood said. “We are just at that point where we aren’t going anything, but taking it one game at a time.”

The next game just happens to be the winless Mustangs.

“We are trying to get better at what we do, no matter what the record is,” Fleetwood said. “We are trying to get another victory.”

Even in the lopsided loss, Fleetwood was pleased with his team’s ability to run the ball against the tough Norcross defense, but after falling behind by such a large margin, running the ball wasn’t a viable plan. And when they failed to score after a pair of sustained drives, the struggles mirrored a season where Peachtree Ridge has struggled to close out games.

“The big question has been trying to play four quarters the whole season,” Fleetwood said.

But the running game found some light nonetheless, led by Blake Best and Harold Nguyen on the offensive line.

“For these linemen, that’s big,” Fleetwood said of the small successes and the experience. “There were some positives, believe it or not.”

The Lions abandoned the running game when it was 7-0.The first drive chewed up more than half of the first quarter. Stick to what the offense is successful at, RUNNING THE BALL. If we score 3's or 7's, least we will keep the score respectful. Keep fighting team.
