East Hall Vikings (7-AAA)

Some quarterback rotations don’t work out, but it’s working fine at Buford. Both Montgomery VanGorder (5-for-5 passing for 66 yards, TD last week) and Taylor Mitchell (3-for-3 passing, 64 yards, TD) have been solid each week. They’re both completing close to 70 percent of their passes. They have thrown for a combined eight TD passes without throwing an interception, complimenting a strong rushing game led by Dontravious Wilson.

The Wolves’ defense also has been stout. The unit’s stars played their best last Friday in a shutout of Fannin County as Josh Cardiello (two tackles for losses, four QB pressures, one sack) and Korie Rogers (two tackles for loss, one QB pressure) both had big games.

Another bright spot in the Fannin win was Buford’s ability to rebound from tough news. After getting word that they had to forfeit two region wins, eliminating them from 7-AAA title contention, the Wolves enjoyed getting back on the football field.

They also are in solid position within the region in a second-place tie with a White County team they defeated. A win over East Hall keeps them in line for a home playoff game with a big matchup with region leader North Hall next Friday. East Hall struggled with three straight losses, but has won its last two outings, including a rout of Banks County a week ago.

Last meeting: Buford won 48-0 in 2005
