Last week: Lost to Central Gwinnett 30-27 in triple OT

Parkview’s road to the Region 8-AAAAAA title took a bit of a detour last week. The Panthers were shocked by Central Gwinnett in triple overtime.

“I’ve tried to tell them you’re going to get everyone’s best game,” Parkview head coach Cecil Flowe said. “Todd (Wofford) had them playing out of their minds.”

The good news for Parkview is that it still controls its own destiny. If the Panthers win tonight against Berkmar and next week against South, they’ll claim their first region crown since 2004.

“You control your own destiny,” Flowe said. “There’s a lot of football to be played and you can’t take anyone lightly.”

That includes tonight’s opponent. Berkmar has lost the last 12 years to Parkview and has only one win this year. But this a team that’s become a lot more competitive.

“Berkmar is very good and has made some great improvements,” Flowe said. “We have to match swords with them and win the game.”

Berkmar’s Jaquan Morris threw for 446 yards and four TDs. Dorren Miller made 10 catches for 230 yards and Rashad Hall added three catches for 94 yards.

“It’s the same carbon copy as last week. They are going to throw it with five wide,” Flowe said. “They are working hard to overcome some things. They are a good football team.”

Last meeting: Parkview 41-3 last year
