ATLANTA — An Atlanta city advisory committee is recommending pay hikes for elected officials.
The Elected Officials Compensation Commission recommends that pay for city council members should be increased from about $40,000 to about $60,000 in 2014.
The recommendations are not binding, and they could encounter stiff opposition if there's an effort to implement them during the tough economic times.
The commission also suggests hiking the Atlanta mayor's pay 25 percent, from $147,500 now to $184,300, after the next mayoral election a year from now.
The pay bumps would cost taxpayers more than $1.42 million over four years. They would have to be approved by the city council and signed by Mayor Kasim Reed to take effect.

How about a pay cut? When they have earned the right to a pay raise, we shall give it to them. LOL, I don't see that happening any time soon!
